How to Cancel LinkedIn Sales Navigator

Cancel a self-serve Advanced seat as a purchaser admin in Admin Center, a self-serve Core seat via Manage Premium account, a sales-sold seat through your account manager, and an iOS purchase on the device. Messages, saved leads and InMail credits do not transfer, and access ends at the close of the billing cycle.

Where you cancel depends on how you bought the seat: through LinkedIn's site, through a sales representative, or through the iOS app. LinkedIn states that you "learn how to cancel your Sales Navigator Advanced account or Sales Navigator Core account" in its help centre, that a purchase made through its Sales team should be cancelled by contacting your account manager, and that a purchase made through an iOS device should be cancelled using that device (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). However you cancel, the account runs to the end of the current billing cycle rather than stopping immediately.

Cancelling from account settings

LinkedIn publishes separate steps for a self-serve Core account and a self-serve Advanced account, and both finish in LinkedIn Admin Center. Use the one that matches what you bought.

If you bought Sales Navigator Advanced online, only a purchaser admin can cancel it. Sign in to Sales Navigator, click Admin in the top menu, click Admin Center, click Purchases in the left menu, select the subscription on the Active tab, then in the Actions section at the top choose Cancel free trial or Cancel subscription and follow the on-screen steps (Sales Navigator Help (opens in a new tab)).

If you bought Sales Navigator Core, sign in to LinkedIn, open Settings & Privacy, select Account Preferences and scroll to the Subscriptions & payments section, click Manage Premium account and then Manage Subscription to open LinkedIn Admin Center, click Purchases in the left menu, select the subscription, and in the Actions section choose Cancel free trial or Cancel subscription (Sales Navigator Help (opens in a new tab)).

Either way, note the date your billing cycle ends, because that is when access stops rather than the day you click cancel, and confirm which account you are signed into: if your employer provides the seat, cancelling on your own login will not remove you from their licence.

What happens to your saved leads and InMail credits

This is the part that catches people out.

Saved data goes. LinkedIn states that "you don't have the option to save critical information and data associated with the account, such as messages, saved leads, and saved accounts," and that the data is removed as soon as you cancel (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). There is no post-cancellation export to recover it.

InMail credits do not follow you. LinkedIn states that InMail credits "won't be transferred to your personal LinkedIn account," and that you will not be able to access any messages you sent through Sales Navigator from your personal account (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). If you buy Sales Navigator again later, you start with a new account and none of the previous data is available (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)).

Your personal account is untouched. Cancelling Sales Navigator is stated not to affect the information or data in your personal LinkedIn account (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)).

Team and corporate licence cancellation

The team case has its own route, and it depends on who holds the licence.

  • You bought a single-user subscription, and your company later added you to a corporate licence. LinkedIn states you can transfer data from your single-user Sales Navigator subscription to a corporate Sales Navigator account (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). Do this before cancelling the individual seat, or the data is gone.
  • Your employer provided the seat. LinkedIn states that if your subscription is provided by your employer, you should contact your admin to request that they remove you from the account (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)).
  • You bought through a sales representative. Contact your account manager to cancel (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). A self-serve cancellation screen will not be the right route for that contract.

If a whole team is winding down, remember that each seat may sit on a different billing channel, so the same remit can require three different cancellation routes.

Billing pitfalls

Two billing details are worth checking before you commit.

First, a Sales Navigator account "will be cancelled at the end of the current billing cycle," so you pay for the remainder of the term you already started (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). Cancelling early does not produce an immediate refund.

Second, cancellation can cost you a price you will not get back. LinkedIn states that "if prices have changed since you last subscribed, your current pricing will be lost when you cancel your existing Sales Navigator account" (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)). If you are on an older rate and might re-subscribe, that is a real cost of leaving.

After cancelling, LinkedIn notes that if you believe you are eligible for a refund, you can submit a refund request (LinkedIn Help (opens in a new tab)).

A pre-cancellation checklist

  1. Identify your billing channel and the right cancellation route for it.
  2. Note down anything essential before you start — messages, saved leads, saved accounts — but do not expect a supported export: LinkedIn states there is currently no option to save this data, and it is removed on cancellation.
  3. If a corporate licence is available, transfer your data to it before you cancel.
  4. Confirm the billing-cycle end date so you know when access stops.
  5. Check whether you are on legacy pricing you would lose by cancelling.

The limit to keep in mind

This guide covers LinkedIn's own documented considerations and cancellation routes. If your plan was sold by a representative or bought inside another company's billing system, the self-serve steps may not apply, and the account manager or admin is the correct contact. If you do leave Sales Navigator, the seat cost and what it buys are covered in Sales Navigator pricing and whether it is worth it. If you are comparing outreach tools, Visit Clapa.
